Pasifika Mamas
On the 13th of November our middle school went to the Corban Estate Art Centre to the Pasifika Mamas. Just like Maori culture the children had to take their shoes off but adults didn't need to. The first part of the the day was making leis out of fabric flowers, straws and strings. We copied a pattern the pattern was flower, straw, flower, straw to make our leis. The second part of the day was learning how to play the drums. We learned about 2 different types of drums called the skin drum and the log drums. The last part of the day was learning how to dance, the boys and girls had different actions for the dance. We also had a boys vs girl clap the beat and who had the loudest clap challenge. And of course the boys won because there were more boys than girls.

Cinquains
At the start of the week for writing we did poems called cinquains. Cinquain poems have some rules: the first line is only 1 word naming what you are writing about, the second line is only 2 words that describe what your writing about, the third line is 3 describing words what the actions of what your writing about, the fourth line is 4 words that could express a feeling about your writing and the last line is 1 word that could replace the name of what you are writing about. My favourite poem is the dragon poem.

Cultural People
On Monday the 4th of November we has a special assembly in the afternoon. The special assembly was for a friendship bench and for cultural people that we painted. There were so many cultural people and they represent most of the cultures in our school. Our class did the Burmese boy and the Samoan girl. There were people from lots of countries even countries I didn't know.
